GET TO KNOW ME

My name is Sérgio Paulo Manique Jr and I was born on December 29th 1994 in Lisbon, Portugal. Although I was born there, I grew up in a small country called Luxembourg but I was raised with Portuguese customs and Portuguese culture. I started playing drums at church at the age of 10 and that was the turning point in my life. I started playing late but I was still surrounded by music because my mother spent her days working at home watching and listening to MTV and my dad played guitar at home to entertain us. The church environment also helped to fall in love with the music. At the age of 11, I practiced with all kinds of artists of every genre in which drums are very present Because of that I quickly grew musically which led me to record my first album with my group HopeSound at the age of 15 years. We performed for TV shows, festivals, short tours, etc. Growing up, I started playing more and more with different people in Luxembourg. When I was 19 years old, I was performing famous local artists, everywhere in Luxembourg for 2 years, which allowed me to gain a lot of experience. With this experience, I decided to audition for the famous Berklee College of Music. I was accepted and a scholarship was awarded to me. I have already spent almost 2 years here which for me has been the best  journey ever and an incredible opportunity. From May-September 2017, I toured withPortuguese Pop Star and The Voice Portugal’s jury member ANSELMO RALPH. We toured all over Africa and in Portugal. That tour just confirmed that I want to be  a touring musician for the first part of my professional career.  I’m currently in Boston now completing my studies and gathering knowledge and building network for the future.
